In the summer of 2011, the client came to me, and shown me the corporate planner of 2011, obviously they can’t start the poor layout of the planner, some teachers even refuse to use it, and want me to help them design a much better planner that everyone happy to use it. This is the story behind this corporate planner. Working with Kumon is so much fun, because their don’t have much limitation, and very open for ideas, this is the essential attitude of the education corporation, this is the reason why Kumon is always so energetic and keep growing.
Back to the design, this time I tried to make it as minimal as possible, made the “2012″ fill up the whole space, that four color plates is represented to their main four different subjects; the polka-dot surface with spot UV gives it a little sensation when touching it. The polka-dot idea came across in all pages of inside page and calendar, even the monthly dividers.
This is the old planner for 2011, the design is ugly and the ribbon band crossing the word 2011, that’s mean the layout and the placement of wording without a thoughtfully design.
This is the planer for 2012, much better. The teachers love to using it.
